Accounts Assistant

Deborah joined JEM in late 2002, and although she’s in accounts she enjoys working across the entire company, describing herself as a “general hands on person.”

Before joining JEM, Deborah worked for Royal Mail for 16.5 years. There, she moved between customer services – such as serving on the Post Office counter, before working in personnel and then payroll.

When Deborah joined JEM, she followed a similar pattern. “I started in Customer Services and then moved to accounts,” explains Deborah. “But I help out in most departments when required.”

A typical day at JEM will see Deborah checking bank statements, running reports, reconciling payments on the system, entering invoices and paying suppliers. The thing she loves best about JEM is “The busy team and varied job role.”

Deborah sometimes keeps Royal company. “I met the Queen in 1997 when she opened the Cancer Unit at the RSCH, because of fundraising while I was with Royal Mail.”
