Paul joined the JEM team in 2017 as Head of IT. Before joining JEM, he spent much of his career in the automotive industry as a Systems and Software engineer. “My previous role was at the world’s largest manufacturer of double deck buses where I was a Lead Systems Engineer specialising in power train and hybrid systems,” explains Paul.
Paul really enjoys the flexibility at JEM, particularly in the bespoke IT systems. “The flexibility of our systems infrastructure allows us to create a completely bespoke solution to any challenge that we or our clients may face. I am a very strong advocate of this approach especially as many companies I have previously worked for take the other approach of purchasing off the shelf software with very varied levels of success and the inherent issues caused by having to apply ‘work arounds’.”
Flexibility at JEM isn’t limited to IT. “This flexibility also extends to the team which is very refreshing.”
There isn’t a typical day at JEM for Paul. “My day varies extensively from providing general IT support, designing planning and implementing new infrastructure and engineering new features as well as continuously improving existing features.”
Paul has an interesting family business. “Several years ago, I took a hiatus from my engineering career to take over the running of the family business that provided embroidered apparel and badges, mainly to the RAF.”
